As the Advisor to the Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, this past president of FOGSI and the Indian Association of Gynecological Endoscopists (IAGE) brings with him over 40 years of experience in tackling every possible obstetric and gynecological problem.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgery, also called minimally invasive surgery (MIS), band aid surgery, or keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique in which operations are performed through small incisions (usually 0.5–1.5 cm) elsewhere in the body.
Benefits of Laparoscopic surgery include quicker patient recovery, less pain post surgery and fewer complications.

Dr Shyam V Desai MD appointed to the board of Trustees for the MOGS
The Mumbai OBGY Society is the oldest ObGy society in India. The board oversees the functioning of the society activities and agenda.
Dr Shyam Desai elected as the President of professional Obstetrics and Gynecology societies of India
Dr Desai has served several professional organisations including the Mumbai ObGy Society, the Federation of Ob Gyn societies of India (FOGSI) and Indian Association of Gyn Endoscopists (IAGE) eventually reaching the Presidentship of each of these organisations between 2000 and 2005.
Dr Desai appointed Secretary General of the South Asia Federation of Ob Gyn (SAFOG) in 2004 and the Vice President thereafter.
The SAFOG is an international organisation which includes countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Dr Shyam Desai elected Chairman of the Maternal and Perinatal Health Committee of the Asia Oceania Federation of Ob Gyn (AOFOG) for 4 years.
The AOFOG was originally conceived in 1954 with its secretariat in Manila, Philippines. It holds conferences in the Asian subcontinent and the Oceania region and includes countries from these areas.
